About The Hotel

family run business

Welcome to The Stella Maris Hotel in Kilkee, Co. Clare, a privately owned hotel which has been run by Ann Haugh and her family since 1997, although it was originally built and has been a hotel since 1880. Our elegant Co Clare hotel which is open all year round (except for Christmas Day) has a spectacular setting in the centre of Kilkee town. It overlooks one of the finest beaches in Clare, a long stretch of smooth golden sand gently sloping towards the sea, offering the safest paddling and bathing. We pride ourselves on our use of fresh local Irish produce, our high standards and traditional values and you’ll find our Kilkee hotel to be exceptionally comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.

Our hotel in the west of Ireland boasts a fantastic Coastal location on the Loop Head Peninsula which was recently voted “Best Place to Holiday in Ireland” by the Irish Times. Loop Head was also designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty when it won the EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) award in 2010. Many of our rooms have partial views views across the bay and of the town. In addition to 20 bedrooms we have a comfortable reception area, a restaurant, a bar, a pool room, a downstairs function room and a sunny veranda which overlooks a beautiful sunken patio garden. We also specialise in bespoke private parties and functions. We offer free WiFi throughout the hotel to all our guests.

Explore the incredible coastal paths of Co Clare and the breathtaking cliff scenery just minutes from our seaview hotel in Kilkee or just relax and and enjoy fabulous local food on the veranda overlooking Kilkee bay. There’s something for everyone here, whether you are looking for a peaceful romantic weekend break in the west of Ireland, a perfect base for a geology trip or a family holiday in Ireland with energetic children keen on fun outdoor and indoor activities, Stella Maris Hotel is the ideal location.
